Wicked F A wonderful conclusion to a brilliant trio of films. I love how it ends with everyone happy no matter the outcome, and it truly fits the story perfectly. Overall the acting, story & message is beautiful. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review KB B This was such an enjoyable movie with many quirky situations and laughs. It's definitely worth the watch. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Laura F It's my favourite of the franchise, I don't know why, I just enjoy the story more! The original Bridget is annoying and problematic, 2nd one was DULL. I can't actually say that in front of my sister as she adores the films and Renee 's portrayal, I on the other hand am a little harder to please! Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Emilliano Jr S A worth to wait sequel. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/23 Full Review donnie m i LOVE the bridget jones movies, the ONE movie i'll watch more than once-funny and really great songs that take you back and make you smile-Renee is 'so cool' Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Matthew D Bridget Jones doesn't seem to work as well in a modern setting.Director Sharon Maguire's romantic comedy Bridget Jones's Baby (2016) is pretty uneven. The dramatic segments don't work this time unless it's specifically a scene with Colin Firth. However, Bridget Jones's Baby has plenty of humor thanks to a standout performance from the ever delightful Zellweger. There's some funny jokes here. I appreciate the attempt at keeping Bridget Jones true to her character. The narration is a bit overdone as is the strange relationship dynamic of having Bridget and Darcy broken up and rekindling their love.Writers Dan Mazer, Emma Thompson, and Helen Fielding write alternately funny and cringe-inducing jokes. I could not stand any of the contemporary jokes about phones, apps, media, dating sites, live-streaming, and other corny modern gags. These were easily the worst jokes in Bridget Jones's Baby besides the crude sex jokes rather than the cute witty ones. I found the clever references and quaint character writing far more charming. Jokes embarrassing Bridget Jones always seem to nail. There's some hamfisted references to modern politics that just don't feel genuine, but at least they tried. I thought the jokes at the expense of the Russian punk girl group in court felt in incredibly poor taste, considering the real world equivalent. The job jokes and crying out over young generations felt very old hat.Editor Melanie Oliver cuts Bridget Jones's' Baby at a brisk pace. It does not feel nearly as long as its 123 minutes length. This truly could have been much shorter, especially since Firth has only ever cared and come across as Mark Darcy. Cinematographer Andrew Dunn's shots look nice, but I really dislike the digital camera look.Renée Zellweger is still charming and silly as Bridget Jones. She doesn't exactly pull off the klutz bit anymore, but Zellweger can do no wrong to me really. Ever since Empire Records, Jerry Maguire, and Bridget Jones's Diary, I've found her so funny and playful. Her dramatic work in White Oleander and Judy are excellent like her musical skills for Chicago, so it's fun to get to see her do a bit of everything for Bridget Jones's Baby. She looks and sounds more like Nicole Kidman now after all her plastic surgery and botox. She's still an incredibly beautiful woman, she just looks remarkably different than before. Zellweger does act playful as a sexy and single Bridget Jones, trying to find love again. Zellweger wincing at the geriatric jokes is so funny. She's just lovely to watch and one of the funniest comedic actresses ever in cinema.Colin Firth looks absolutely despondent as Mark Darcy. He does feel like a third wheel compared to Patrick Dempsey's charming billionaire love guru Jack Qwant. Dempsey is trying so much harder for Bridget Jones's Baby than he did for his phoned-in performance in Disenchanted. Firth is genuinely hilarious and likable still with a great performance.Jim Broadbent's Colin Jones is still a funny forlorn father to Bridget like Gemma Jones' hysterical Pamela Jones as Bridget's mother. Sally Phillips is still sultry and hilarious as Bridget's friend Shazzer. James Callis gets only a few fun lines as her gay pal Tom. Shirley Henderson's every line is a scream as Jude. Her screaming swear words with her high pitched voice is a blast. Sarah Solemani gets a huge supporting role as Bridget's outrageous anchorwoman friend Miranda.Kate O'Flynn is a riot as Bridget's demanding new boss Alice Peabody with her absurd commands. Emma Thompson is pretty funny as Bridget's Doctor Rawlings. Katia Elizarova gets a great bit at Hugh Grant's funeral as the glamorous looking ex-girlfriend of Daniel Cleaver. The poetry joke really is clever and fits Cleaver's character. I think the costumes and make-up were a bit overdone and not very fashionable.Composer Craig Armstrong's film score is surprisingly melancholic. There's some fun songs, but the soundtrack steals the musical show. Opening on House of Pain's "Jump Around" is a fun choice, if dated. The Ed Sheeran jump scare was weird. His quick cameo is cute, followed by him pleasantly singing "Thinking Out Loud." I liked hearing Psy's K-Pop smash hit "Gangnam Style" during the baby Christening. John Paul Kelly's ultra modern sets look very clean, but not so charming. In all, Bridget Jones's Baby pales in comparison to Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, let alone Bridget Jones's Diary.
