SOLVED: Wheres the brake light fuse on 2006 gmc sierra - 2006 GMC Sierra (2024)

SOURCE: no power to trailer running lights

Hi,

This is a known issue and to my knowledge there was even a recall order to correct this fault. It would seem the the wiring harness itself is the reason. You may want to reference these pages here and/or here.

Should you however prefer to perform a DIY, then you would need a DVM to check for voltages. This page shows the possible wiring scheme used by most manufacturers for trailer configuration.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

did u check that they not burn?if not you should Check the wires going into thesteering column if you don't have separate turn signal lights and brake lightsbecause if they use the same bulb then the turn signal may be bad. If I remembercorrectly that particular car doesn't work this way, but I include it just incase.

The fuse is actually a Relay Switch and its located in the Fuse Relay Center on the driverside of the engine compartment. The Black Box is labled Fuse Relay Center, the diagram on the cap displays which Relay is the Fuel Pump relay...the Relay switch is usually $8-$15 depending on where you shop

There's a switch at the top of your brake pedal. They wear out, chance are that's the problem, easy fix in the driveway.

The brake light switch is at fault. Get a new one and replace it. The location is at the brake pedal area mounted on a bracket with a plunger stud that rest on the brake pedal's arm the pad is attached to

Motor relay circuit this is for the ABS, you will need ot restore the third eye brake light and check fuse in the engine junction fuse box, (cigarette lighter fuse) make sure it didnt open

Check fuses first. If thats OK, could be a problem with the brake switch (down by the pedal) or the wiring.

Suspect 7 pin connector problem , you should have power on the 8pm positioned and the centre pin position as you look into the socket (on vehicle. These pins are both male pins as you look at them . If ok check trailer wiring where it splits for either lamp assy ! Good luck

check at the top of the pedal, there is a micro switch that operates when you depress the pedal, this in turn operates the electric feed to the brake lights, this switch may be worn, or faulty...an easy but a little awkward fix

brake lights and turn signals work off the same curcit, it could be the fuse or the brake light switch !!!!!!
