The Ladder Matches in WWE 2K23 offer some of the most chaotic fun the game has to offer in local and online multiplayer matches with friends. However, these battles can be a little frustrating against the AI and will take a bit of know-how to figure them out.

Utilizing ladders can be fiddly and temperamental, especially as they fall over and behave like they're made out of cardboard. However, the high-risk and high-impact moves that can be performed in the WWE 2K23 match will make the perseverance worthwhile.

How To Climb The Ladder In WWE 2K23

Winning The Ladder Match

The Ladder Match features a fireball-style mini-game that requires the player to fire the ball through a gap on a rotating circle with the R2/RT button. Players can also rotate the ball into position using the R-stick, but it's easier to focus on pressing R2/R2. The player must hit the target and light up five green bars to win. Thankfully, players don't need to start from the beginning if they get knocked down from the ladder.

Don't go for the win too early.
Stun the opponent.
Throw them to the outside.
When the prompt for L1/LB appears, tap it to begin the mini-game. Don't hold the L1/LB button.

Stopping An Opponent On The Ladder

When the opponent climbs the ladder, the player must prevent them from grabbing the briefcase or belt at the top.

Stand under the ladder and rapidly press the Circle/B button to push them off.
Climb the ladder on the other side and win the battle at the top.
Execute a running or diving attack on the ladder to kick it out from under them. Then grab them from the hanging position and slam them down.

Using The Ladder As A Weapon

Attack With The Ladder

Wrestlers can hit each other with the ladder using the Square/X button. It doesn't have the range of a chair or a kendo stick. The opponent must be close for it to land, and players can't attack grounded opponents with the ladder. Players can get more with the L1/LB button at the ringside.

Perform A Slam On To The Ladder

Throw the ladder into position by pressing the Circle/B button. Grab the opponent with the Circle/B button and perform a slam, Spinebuster, or suplex onto the ladder.

For better accuracy, grab the opponent with Circle/B and press up on the R-stick and the R1/RB button to carry them into a powerbomb position and slam them down on the ladder for extra damage.

Corner Attacks With The Ladder

Players can lean the ladder into the corner and hurt their opponents with extra damage.

Grab the ladder with the L1/LB button.
Carry the ladder to the corner.
When the prompt appears, press the X/A button.
Use an Irish Whip with the Circle/B button to run the opponent into it.
With an opponent leaning on the ladder, perform a running attack.

The Running Dive Attack To The Outside

Players can use the ladder as a ramp and perform a running dive attack on the opponent outside the ring. Not all wrestlers can perform this attack, and it's better to use agile WWE Superstars like Rob Van Dam or Eddie Guerrero.

Pick up the ladder with L1/LB.
Carry the ladder to the ropes.
When the prompt appears, press the X/A button to lean it on the ropes.
Thow the opponent outside.
Run at the ladder with L2/LT and press Square/X or X/A right before the edge of the ladder.

Hitting A Finisher From The Ladder

When both wrestlers are positioned at the top of the ladder on opposing sides, they can perform a finisher from the top. Some WWE wrestlers have unique finishers from this position, like Randy Orton with an RKO and The Rock with a Rock Bottom.

Climb the ladder with the R1/RB button.
At the top of the ladder, press R2/RT and X/A to perform the finisher.

The Ladder Bridge

One of the most brutal attacks in WWE 2K23 is when a wrestler utilizes the ladders as a bridge. To set up a ladder bridge and perform impressive moves in WWE 2K23, use the following steps:

Go outside the ring opposite the announcer's table.
Stand near the ring apron and press R2/RT and L1/LB to pull out a long ladder and automatically bridge it between the ring and the announcer's desk.

Ladder Bridge Attacks

With the ladder bridged, it's time to use it as a weapon and cause extra damage to the opponent.

Inside the ring, Irish Whip toward the ladder holding the R-stick and the Circle/B button. The opponent will flip over the ropes and land back-first on the ladder.
Climb the turnbuckle or a ladder to perform a flying attack through the ladder.

On the outside of the ring, players can perform grapples against the ladder by grabbing them with Circle/B and then the L1 button to drag and walk wrestlers toward the ladder and position them against it.
Grab the opponent with the Circle/B button and press Square,/X, or X/A.

To use a carry attack, grab with the Circle/B button, then R1/RB and the R-Stick up. Carry the opponent to the ladder and press the Square/X button at the prompt.
